PLO offers condolences for death of Mahmoud Darwish

Dr. Nabil Abuznaid, Charge' d'Affaires of the PLO Mission and staff, extend their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Mr. Mahmoud Darwish and to the Palestinian people for the loss of a respected poet and author. Mr. Darwish was one of the greatest contemporary Arab Poets, a literary figure who enlightened the entire world with his work. His poetry and prose created a Palestinian national identity that no other poet could achieve. Mahmoud Darwish gave a voice to the Palestinians through his writings and was able to define a country's collective spirit through his work. The Palestinians and the entire world revered Mr. Darwish as a literary icon, and as an artist whose voice will be forever missed.
