MUSIC: JPF Awards cite Arab song in award nominations

World's Largest Music Awards Announces 2009 Nominations

Indianapolis, IN, USA -The song "Jayee La'Enna", from the album ‘Talj el Milad' of the Los Angeles based Lebanese-American artist Wafic Khalil, was nominated for best Traditional Holiday Song at the 2009 edition of the Music Organization Just Plain Folks (JPF) Awards.

The 2009 Just Plain Folks Music Awards show will take place in Nashville, TN on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Winners will be announced live at the show.

After receiving a record setting 42,000 albums and 560,000 songs from 163 countries around the world, the organization's staff and team of volunteers filtered the music down to both song and album nominees in 95 genres of music. This year's nominees come from over 80 different countries around the world.

The organization spent 14 months from the initial entry date to screen all the music and narrow down the field. JPF uses a unique mix of judges that come from the music industry, fellow artist and songwriter peers and music fans.

About Wafic Khalil: Wafic Khalil is a Lebanese-American artist currently living in the Greater Los Angeles area. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Filmmaking from Massachusetts College of the Arts and obtained a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts. Wafic is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician and a filmmaker. His previous productions include a Christmas album in 1999 and a documentary in 2003.
